Alles
Income Return
The return on an investment derived from the income it generates, such as dividends or interest.
Index
A basket product that measures the performance of an entire market or products of a similar nature.
Index components
Index components are the individual securities included in a market index. The S&P 500 contains shares from large US companies, while the IBEX 35 contains selected Spanish stocks. Components do not always have equal influence. In an index weighted by market value, larger companies affect the result more than smaller ones. The list may change when a company is acquired, removed from the exchange, or no longer meets the index rules. Funds that follow the index may then need to sell the removed company and buy the new one, sometimes creating extra trading activity around the change date.
Indian Rupee (INR)
The Indian rupee is India’s official currency. It uses the code INR and the symbol ₹, which combines features of the Devanagari letter “ra” and the Latin letter R. One rupee is divided into 100 paise. Indian prices and financial reports often use lakhs and crores. One lakh equals 100,000, while one crore equals 10 million. An amount written as ₹5 lakh therefore means ₹500,000. Understanding this number system is often more useful when reading Indian financial information than simply converting every amount into millions or billions.
Indicative Quote
An indicative quote is an estimated price that is not yet a firm offer to trade. A company planning to buy a large amount of foreign currency may first ask a bank for an approximate level. The bank can provide an indication while checking the order size and available liquidity. If the company decides to proceed, it asks for a firm quote that can be accepted. Indicative quotes help with planning, valuation, and discussion, but the price may change before an actual transaction is agreed.
Indices
A collection of stocks that can be traded as one product through ETFs, futures contracts and more.
