Trading Glossary
Glossary trade refers to a type of trading strategy where traders use a predefined set of terms, definitions, or concepts to make informed decisions. It often involves industry-specific jargon, financial metrics, and analytical tools to navigate markets effectively.
U
USDX
USDX is the ICE U.S. Dollar Index, also commonly called DXY. It compares the US dollar with a basket containing the euro, Japanese yen, British pound, Canadian dollar, Swedish krona, and Swiss franc. Each currency has a different weight, with the euro having the largest influence. The index began with a base value of 100. A move from 100 to 104 means that the dollar has strengthened against the weighted basket. USDX offers a quick view of broad dollar direction, but it does not include every major trading partner. The Chinese yuan and Mexican peso, for example, are not part of the basket.
Uzbekistan Sum (UZS)
The Uzbekistan sum, also written as soʻm, is the official currency of Uzbekistan. Its international code is UZS, and it is issued by the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The current currency entered circulation in 1994 and replaced the temporary sum-coupon at a rate of 1,000 coupons for one sum. Everyday prices may contain several zeros because one sum represents a small amount of value. This does not by itself mean that an item is expensive. In English documents, the code UZS is especially useful because the word “sum” also means the result of adding numbers.
