IBEX 35
The IBEX 35 is Spain’s main stock market index. It contains 35 actively traded companies listed on the Spanish exchange. Membership depends heavily on liquidity, so the largest company is not automatically included if its shares do not trade enough. The index is weighted by market value, which gives larger members more influence over its movements. Banks, utilities, energy companies, retailers, and other sectors may all be represented. The IBEX 35 is used as a reference for Spanish equity funds, futures, options, and other financial products.
IBOR
IBOR stands for Interbank Offered Rate. It is a general name for benchmark interest rates used in loans, bonds, and derivatives. LIBOR, EURIBOR, TIBOR, and EIBOR are examples, but each belongs to a different market and follows its own calculation rules. A business loan may charge an IBOR rate plus an added margin, such as IBOR plus 2%. IBOR is therefore not one worldwide interest rate. Some older IBORs, especially LIBOR, were replaced after concerns about how they were calculated. Other benchmarks continue to operate and may still be widely used in their local markets.
ICE U.S. Dollar Inflation Expectations Index
The ICE U.S. Dollar Inflation Expectations Index reflects how much future US inflation is implied by financial-market prices. It uses information from ordinary Treasury securities, inflation-protected Treasuries, and inflation swaps. The result is different from the Consumer Price Index, which measures inflation that has already occurred. It is also different from a survey asking households or economists what they expect. A higher reading means market pricing points to stronger inflation over the stated period. Liquidity, risk premiums, and demand for particular bonds can also affect the estimate.
Icelandic Króna (ISK)
The Icelandic króna is Iceland’s official currency and uses the code ISK. The singular form is króna, while the Icelandic plural is krónur. Local amounts are often written using the abbreviation kr. Iceland does not use the euro, even though the country has strong economic links with Europe. The króna belongs to a relatively small currency market, so changes in tourism, fishing exports, foreign investment, or demand for imported goods can have a noticeable effect on it. Iceland has kept its own currency partly because it allows the country to operate an independent monetary policy.
Ichimoku Cloud
An advanced technical analysis technique used to identify support and resistance trends along five lines, guiding buy and sell decisions.
Ichimoku Kinko Hyo
Ichimoku Kinko Hyo is a technical chart system that combines several lines with a shaded area called the cloud. Its name is often translated as “one-glance equilibrium chart.” The conversion line and base line compare recent price ranges over different periods. Two other lines create the cloud, which traders use to view trend direction and possible support or resistance. A lagging line compares the current close with earlier prices. Ichimoku can show several forms of information on one chart, although the number of lines may make it difficult for beginners to read at first.
