I
Implied volatility
A measure of the expected volatility of an underlying asset based on the prices of its options contracts.
Import Price Index
The Import Price Index measures changes in the prices paid for goods and services purchased from abroad. In the United States, it is released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. A rise may come from more expensive foreign products, higher commodity prices, or a weaker dollar that makes imports costlier. The index does not measure the number of products entering the country. It also does not show the final shop price, which may include shipping, taxes, and retail markups. Fuel can create large monthly swings, so reports often discuss the figures with and without petroleum.
Importing
Importing is the business process of bringing goods or services into a country from abroad. A company importing coffee must choose a supplier, agree on payment, arrange transport, complete customs documents, and meet local product rules. The final cost may include freight, insurance, tariffs, storage, and currency conversion. The importer may sell the goods to customers or use them in its own production. Importing therefore describes a chain of commercial and legal activities, not simply the moment when the product crosses the border.
Imports
Imports are the foreign goods and services bought by residents, companies, or governments. A car shipped from Japan is a goods import. Software support provided by an overseas company is a services import. Economic reports compare imports with exports to help calculate the trade balance. Imports are also subtracted when gross domestic product is calculated, because the spending may already appear under consumption or investment even though the production happened abroad. The subtraction prevents foreign production from being counted as part of domestic output.
In Neck
In Neck is a two-candle pattern that appears during a falling market. The first candle is strongly negative. The second opens lower, recovers slightly, and closes near the first candle’s close. Buyers managed a small response but could not reverse much of the earlier decline. Technical analysts may treat this as a bearish continuation pattern. It is similar to the On Neck and Thrusting patterns, but their second candles close at slightly different levels. Because these differences can be small, the wider trend often matters more than the exact pattern name.
In-the-money
Refers to an options contract that would be profitable if it were exercised immediately.
