STARTRADER and the NBA: A Second Season, Bigger Ambitions

TITLE: STARTRADER and the NBA: A Second Season, Bigger Ambitions

As the 2026–27 NBA season tips off, STARTRADER steps into its second year as an Official Partner of the NBA. Year one proved basketball and trading communities could meet. Year two is about how far that meeting can go.

In the hours before tip-off, an arena is almost silent. The hardwood gleams under the work lights. Ball racks roll out to the baseline. The scoreboard glows with nothing but zeros. Then the doors open, the noise rises, and a new season begins.

On 20 October, that moment arrives again as the NBA opens its 81st season with a three-game tip-off. For STARTRADER, the date carries a second meaning. It marks the start of its second season as an Official Partner of the NBA across the markets covered by the partnership, part of a multi-year collaboration that has already pushed past the boundaries of a traditional sponsorship.

When the partnership began, the challenge was introduction: how does a global multi-asset broker find its place in the world of professional basketball? That question has now been answered. The new one is bigger. It is no longer about how the story starts. It is about how far it can go.

When STARTRADER signed on as an Official Partner of the NBA in January 2026, it stepped onto one of the most recognised stages in world sport. Arena backdrops, broadcast placements and league media came with the territory.

But visibility, on its own, is a spectator’s experience. STARTRADER wanted its community off the bench and on the court.

So the company built the STAR Trading League, a basketball-inspired trading tournament created for the STARTRADER community. It borrowed basketball’s team dynamics, its strategic decision-making and its tournament format, and handed them to the STARTRADER community.

The idea was simple, and it became the defining lesson of the first season. Seeing a brand next to a sport is one experience. Taking part in something inspired by that sport is another entirely.

That shift, from reaching an audience to engaging one, laid the foundation for everything that comes next.

A season packed with moments

The 2026–27 calendar gives fans plenty to follow, and gives STARTRADER plenty of moments to show up for.

The Emirates NBA Cup gets underway on 30 October. In January, regular-season games in Paris and Manchester bring NBA basketball to European crowds. NBA All-Star 2027 then lands in Phoenix from 19 to 21 February, before the regular season runs through April.

Throughout the season, STARTRADER will remain in the picture: on in-arena backdrops, in broadcast-visible placements, across select league media platforms and at live events.

Yet the company sees the real opportunity elsewhere. Visibility puts a name in front of a global audience. The harder, more valuable work is turning that visibility into experiences that matter to STARTRADER’s own audiences, market by market.

Two different courts, one shared mindset

On the surface, the pairing looks unlikely. One world is played out on a hardwood court in front of roaring crowds. The other moves through global exchanges and trading screens.

Look closer, and the common ground appears.

Basketball rewards preparation, discipline and the ability to adapt when the game turns. Participating in financial markets also calls for preparation, informed decisions and a clear-eyed view of uncertainty, even though the two involve fundamentally different risks and outcomes.

Those qualities sit at the heart of STARTRADER’s four brand pillars: Strength, Trust, Ambition and Resilience. Read the initials together and they spell STAR, the heart of the company’s name. The NBA partnership gives those values a global stage and a community culture to live in.

For STARTRADER’s chief executive, the first season was proof of concept.

“The first season showed us what this partnership can become beyond sponsorship. Through the STAR Trading League, we turned that connection into an experience our own community could participate in. The next chapter is about going further, creating more meaningful ways for audiences across our markets to engage with the partnership.”— Peter Karsten, CEO of STARTRADER

The second half: making every season count

If year one was about establishing STARTRADER’s presence inside the NBA ecosystem, year two is about building on it.

As the season unfolds, the company plans to keep developing activations that invite participation, strengthen connections across its markets and bring the partnership to life well beyond traditional advertising. For a global multi-asset broker, that means meeting people through the interests they already share, while reinforcing a brand they can recognise.

The division of roles is clear. The NBA brings the game, the global stage and the moments fans carry with them for years. STARTRADER brings its community, its ambition and a commitment to making the partnership mean something to the people it serves.

On 20 October, the scoreboard resets to zero and the first whistle blows. For STARTRADER, the first season was the introduction. This one is about giving people more reasons to step onto the court.
