Woordenlijst voor trading
Glossary trade verwijst naar een type handelsstrategie waarbij traders een vooraf gedefinieerde reeks termen, definities of concepten gebruiken om geïnformeerde beslissingen te maken. UK manual unit wage loss
The wording of this indicator is confusing. UK manual unit wage loss is an older market-calendar term linked to the labour cost of producing one unit of output. A clearer name would be manual unit wage cost or unit labour cost. The figure compares wage changes with productivity. If factory wages rise by 5% while output per worker rises by only 2%, labour has become more expensive for each item produced. If productivity grows faster than wages, the cost per unit may fall. The word “loss” does not mean that a company has reported an actual financial loss.
UK oil
UK Oil is the name many trading platforms use for a product linked to Brent crude. Brent is one of the world’s main oil benchmarks and is quoted in US dollars per barrel. Its price can react to changes in global supply, demand, production, inventories, and political events affecting oil routes. Trading UK Oil normally means using a derivative that follows Brent prices. It does not usually involve buying or receiving physical barrels. The broker may base the product on futures or a cash price, so expiry dates, trading hours, and rollover rules can differ between providers.
UK Producer Price Index
Price pressure can reach manufacturers before it reaches shoppers. The UK Producer Price Index, or PPI, measures these earlier changes. Input PPI tracks the cost of materials, fuel, and other goods bought by manufacturers. Output PPI tracks the prices manufacturers receive when products leave the factory. A company may pay 8% more for energy and materials but increase its own selling prices by only 3%. It may accept a smaller profit margin instead of passing the full cost to customers. Producer prices can therefore point to future inflation pressure, but they do not guarantee that consumer prices will rise.
UK100
UK100 is a common trading name for a product linked to the FTSE 100 Index. The index follows 100 large companies listed on the London Stock Exchange and is measured in points rather than pounds. Larger companies have more influence because the index is weighted by market value. Although it is widely used as a measure of the UK stock market, many of its companies earn much of their revenue abroad. Global demand, commodity prices, and movements in the pound can therefore affect it strongly. Depending on the provider, UK100 may follow a cash index price or a futures contract.
Ukrainian Hryvnia (UAH)
Ukraine introduced the modern hryvnia in 1996. Its code is UAH, its symbol is ₴, and one hryvnia is divided into 100 kopiikas. The National Bank of Ukraine issues and manages the currency. A move in USD/UAH from 40 to 42 means that 42 hryvnias are now needed to buy one US dollar instead of 40. The hryvnia has therefore lost value against the dollar. During periods of serious economic or political disruption, the official exchange rate may differ from prices offered by banks or other markets. The source and date of a UAH quote can therefore be especially important.
Ulcer Index
The Ulcer Index measures how far and how long an investment stays below a previous high. A fall from an earlier peak is called a drawdown. Two investments may produce similar returns but create very different experiences. One may fall by 10% and recover the next day. Another may decline by 8% and remain below its old high for several months. The second investment may receive a higher Ulcer Index because the drawdown lasts longer. Unlike standard deviation, the index ignores upward price movement and focuses only on declines. A higher reading points to deeper drawdowns, longer recovery periods, or both.
