Wall Street closed mostly higher on Tuesday, led by a nearly 1% gain in the Dow. In Asia, South Korea’s Kospi rebounded 2.7% and Japan’s Nikkei gained 0.8%.

AI and corporate earnings remain in focus. SpaceX shares jumped 8% after reporting 161% third-quarter revenue growth, while Elon Musk said SpaceX and Tesla had formed committees to discuss a potential merger.

Investors are also awaiting Meta’s upcoming results for clues about AI investment returns, alongside earnings from Tesla and IBM.

In early trading today, US stock futures rose slightly, with the S&P 500 up 0.3% and Nasdaq-100 futures gaining 0.8%.

Elsewhere in UK, inflation accelerated to 3.5% annually in September, exceeding expectations of 3.4% and reaching its highest level in a year.. The persistent acceleration could complicate the Bank of England’s monetary policy outlook.

Oil prices rose this morning as escalating tensions in the Middle East heightened concerns about supply disruptions. Brent crude gained 1.2% to $110.17 per barrel, while WTI rose 1.1% to $98.94.

Gold fell toward $4,120 per ounce, extending its decline as elevated oil prices fueled concerns about persistent US inflation and the possibility that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates higher for longer.
