Today Fundamental Analysis: Nikkei Breaks 50,000 For the First Time, And US Indices Open Higher After Inflation Numbers

October 27, 2025, 07:39

Japan’s Nikkei 225 surged above 50,000 for the first time, driven by optimism over progress in U.S.-China trade talks and strong momentum from Wall Street. Hopes for increased domestic demand in Japan, ahead of Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, added to the positive sentiment.

The rally spread across Asia. South Korea’s Kospi crossed 4,000 for the first time, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng and China’s CSI 300 also rose during the session.

Markets reacted positively to signals that the U.S. will hold back on proposed 100% tariffs on Chinese imports, while China is expected to boost U.S. purchases and delay restrictions on rare earth exports.

And in China, industrial profits posted strong growth in September, rising 21% year-on-year, the fastest pace in nearly a year.

In the US market, stocks gained momentum after the September inflation report showed less than expected CPI reading, which boosted expectations of Federal Reserve rate cuts in October and December. Stocks posted a second straight week of gains, supported by strong earnings, with a large number of companies beating forecasts.

However, President Trump’s new tariff move against Canada keeps trade concerns alive, and inflation is still slightly rising at 3%, above the Fed’s target. It’s important to note that limited economic data due to the government shutdown may keep investors cautious and on alert.

Gold opened lower today after prices dropped 3.28% last week. The precious metal is trading at $4,080 and has been moving sideways for the past few days. Gold and silver are likely to benefit from the rate cut expected in the next FOMC meeting this Wednesday. Silver is currently trading at $48.28 per ounce, down more than 11% from its record high logged on Friday, 17 October.
