US stock futures edged higher in early trading today after the Nasdaq reached a fresh record high on Monday. S&P 500 futures are up 0.1%, Dow futures 0.15% and Nasdaq-100 futures 0.15%. On Monday, the Nasdaq gained around 1%, while the S&P 500 rose 0.7% and the Dow added 0.2%. AI-related stocks led the gains, with SpaceX, Nvidia and Tesla among the notable outperformers.
Asian markets were mostly higher also, while oil prices fell sharply on Monday, with Brent down nearly 2% to around $100.36 and WTI down 1.8% to $89.40.
Meanwhile, bond yields remain a major market focus, with the 10-year Treasury yield briefly exceeding 5.3% and the 30-year yield rising above 5.7%, both reaching multi-decade highs.
Japan is facing similar pressures, with the 10-year Japanese government bond yield rising to around 3.10%, its highest level since 1996.
Markets are now focused on the Federal Reserve’s September meeting minutes, due Wednesday, for clues about policymakers’ views on interest rates and the outlook for monetary policy.
