Korean chipmakers, leveraged semiconductor ETFs and USD-quoted shares from China and Hong Kong, CFDs tradable Monday to Sunday with trading available beyond the regular hours of the relevant underlying exchanges, subject to the applicable trading schedule and terms.
From 18 September, 49 new Stock and ETF CFDs are available on STARTRADER’s MT5 servers, tradable Monday to Sunday from 00:00 to 24:00 (GMT+3), subject to scheduled maintenance windows. The list breaks down into 30 US stocks, 14 ETFs and five USD-quoted foreign shares, and the point of the exercise is that Asian semiconductor and consumer names no longer go untradable the moment their home exchange shuts.
What is in the list
The US additions include SK Hynix (SKHYUSD) and Super Micro Computer (SMCIUSD). Both sit close to the AI memory and server supply chain, which is where a large share of current market attention is concentrated.
Eleven of the 14 ETFs are single-stock or sector leveraged products. Two of the more heavily traded names are in there: the Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X ETF (SOXLUSD) and Direxion Daily Micron Bull 2X Shares (MUUUSD). Leveraged ETFs move faster than the index they track in both directions, so position sizing matters more here than it does elsewhere on the list.
The five foreign shares are quoted in USD and cover markets that are usually awkward to reach directly. GigaDevice comes from the China A-share market, Pop Mart and Tencent from Hong Kong, and Samsung Electronics (SAMSUNGUSD) and Hyundai from South Korea. Worth noting on that last one: SAMSUNGUSD is the Korea-listed share quoted in USD, not a depositary receipt.
Because these instruments are quoted in USD while the underlying shares are listed in other currencies, movements in the relevant exchange rate will affect the position in addition to movements in the share price. Chinese A-shares are also subject to daily price limits. Where the underlying reaches its applicable price limit or is suspended, pricing and execution on the corresponding CFD may be affected.
Why 24/7 matters for these names in particular
A Korean chipmaker’s most consequential news often lands outside Seoul trading hours, and a Hong Kong consumer name can move on a policy headline published on a Sunday. Under standard exchange hours, a client reads that news and then waits, sometimes for days, before doing anything about it.
Continuous trading removes that wait. It does not make the instrument safer or the news easier to read, but it does mean the gap between information and action is a decision rather than a schedule.
“We do not add symbols to look comprehensive. The test is whether a client would otherwise be left holding a view they have no way to act on, and across these 49, that test was easy to answer.”
Peter Karsten, CEO, STARTRADER
What comes next
This pushes the 24/7 range further into Asian equity markets, after earlier additions covering Hong Kong-listed AI companies and global index ETFs. Which markets get added after this depends on where interest moves.
The full symbol list is in the specification sheet. The Product Team can answer anything the sheet does not cover.
