Technicians, sometimes shortened to techs, are market participants who study price charts rather than focusing mainly on company accounts or economic value. They look for trends, support and resistance areas, volume changes, chart patterns, and signals from technical indicators. A technician may notice that a share has repeatedly stopped falling near $40 and treat that area as possible support. This does not mean the price must rise from there again. Technical analysis studies how a market has behaved and how traders are reacting. It cannot know with certainty what the next move will be.
