Before each scheduled Federal Open Market Committee meeting, Federal Reserve staff prepare a detailed report called the Tealbook. Part A examines US and international economic conditions, financial markets, and staff forecasts. Part B presents monetary-policy strategies and possible choices for the committee. The name began in 2010 when the earlier Greenbook and Bluebook were combined. Tealbooks help policymakers prepare for discussion, but they are staff documents rather than final policy decisions. The public does not receive the current version before the meeting. Historical editions are released later as part of the Federal Reserve’s record of past FOMC meetings.
