Williams %R

Williams %R is a technical indicator that helps traders see whether an asset may be overbought or oversold. In simple terms, it compares the latest closing price with the highest and lowest prices over a chosen period, usually 14 days.

The indicator moves between 0 and -100. A reading above -20 often suggests the asset may be overbought, meaning the price is near the top of its recent range. A reading below -80 often suggests it may be oversold, meaning the price is near the bottom of its recent range.

Traders use Williams %R to look for possible entry and exit points. However, it should not be used alone, because strong trends can keep the indicator overbought or oversold for a long time.

Example:

If a stock trades between $40 and $50 over 14 days and closes near $49, Williams %R may move above -20. This suggests the stock is near the top of its recent range, so traders may watch for a possible pullback.

In short, Williams %R helps traders read short-term momentum.

Win Rate

Win rate is the percentage of trades that end in profit compared to your total number of trades. It helps traders measure how often their strategy is successful.

The formula is simple:

Win Rate = (Winning Trades ÷ Total Trades) × 100

For example, if you take 50 trades and 30 are profitable, your win rate is 60%.

A higher win rate may suggest consistency, but it does not automatically mean a strategy is profitable. What matters is how win rate works together with risk-reward ratio. A trader with a 40% win rate can still be profitable if winning trades are much larger than losing ones.

For example:

Trader A wins 70% of trades but makes small profits and takes large losses.

Trader B wins only 45% of trades but each winning trade makes three times more than each loss.

Trader B may be more profitable.

Traders use win rate to evaluate strategy performance, improve risk management, and measure consistency over time. But it should always be viewed alongside factors like average profit, average loss, and market conditions.

In short, win rate tells you how often you are right — not how profitable you are.

Wire transfer

A method of electronically transferring funds from one bank account to another.

WM/Reuters FX Benchmark

The WM/Reuters FX Benchmark is a set of standardized foreign exchange rates used as a trusted reference point in global currency markets. These rates help banks, fund managers, corporations, and treasury teams value portfolios, settle transactions, measure performance, and compare FX execution.

Because the FX market has no central exchange, exchange rates can vary across banks and trading platforms. The WM/Reuters benchmark provides an independent and widely accepted rate, helping market participants work from the same reference point.

The most recognized fixing is the 4:00 p.m. London fix, where rates are calculated using market data around that time. The benchmark covers more than 150 currencies and is used by major index providers, asset managers, and financial institutions.

Example:

If a global fund holds European stocks but reports performance in US dollars, it needs to convert euro values into dollars. The fund may use the WM/Reuters EUR/USD benchmark rate to make that conversion fairly and consistently.

In simple terms, the WM/Reuters FX Benchmark acts like a common “official reference rate” for currency valuation and comparison.
